Hello,
Has anyone stayed at the Pharaoh Egypt Hotel in downtown Cairo.
Is it a neat and clean and reasonable hotel?

The Pharaoh Egypt hotel isn't in down town Cairo, it's across the river in an area of Giza called Mohandiseen. It's a fairly typical Egyptian 3-star hotel, i.e. pretty basic, casual and a tad worn around the edges. (If you want clean, modern and efficient, then you really have to go 5-star in Egypt.) So saying, clients who have stayed there (an Americam couple in January and an Australian family of 4 last summer) said it was pretty decent and had no major complaints.
Be aware that if you get a room at the front of the hotel you will hear a lot of traffic noise as it sits close to a very busy intersection. On the plus side, it'll be very easy to catch taxis from outside the hotel, you are about half way between down town Cairo (museum, Islamic and Coptic areas, etc) and the pyramids, and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
