Waar ligt Wisch
(Terborg, province of Gelderland) Wisch castle's chequered history encompasses eight centuries. The Lords of Wisch were a powerful presence in the region; for a while two of them ruled at the same time, each with his own house in the grounds of the present castle. Wisch attained the form we see today in the 18th century. It incorporates a large 15th century round tower, as well as a square tower attached to the main house by an extraordinary, 90 m. long service wing. Wisch was the property of severall influential families, including the Viscounts Brandenburg and the Nassau-Siegens. The last private owners were the Vegelin van Claerbergen family, who live here today. To be able to restore the house from its severe war-damage, the family gave it in long lease to the Foundation Castles in Gelderland. Restoration work commenced in 1957. Later work included the introduction of interiors from Amsterdam and The Hague mansions. The castle is closed to the public.
